Meet the Taskize Team: Engineering

In our year-long Team Voices video series, it’s time to meet with engineering. We sit down with James Kerr, one of our Development Team Leads, to talk about his journey at Taskize and how the engineering team works.

James joined Taskize back in 2016, at a time when our platform had not yet gone fully live:

“We were a very small dev team and very fast-paced. We had to build a scalable and secure architecture, but we also needed to deliver value quickly so that we could gain customers.”

Today, James leads ‘Resolve’, one of three sub-teams named after our strapline, which sits within the wider development group. The team works in two-week sprints, using daily catch-ups to stay aligned and address any challenges as they arise.

For James, the standout feature of Taskize isn’t just the technology – it’s the people:

“I think the single most positive thing about Taskize is the people. We’ve got a really smart development team, and everyone’s always willing to help each other.”

That spirit of collaboration also shapes their engineering philosophy: “The best and smartest code is the most simple code.”

This commitment to simplicity and clarity is woven into the culture:

“We hire really smart people at Taskize. So when they join, if something seems a bit complicated, we know that’s an area we need to simplify.”
